How to become a plastic-free business

It’s ‘Plastic-Free July’, the time of year when UK small and medium-size businesses are rising to the challenge of removing single-use plastic and reducing their plastic footprint in general.

It’s nigh on impossible to remove all plastics from our lives completely. But we can avoid certain plastics, especially single-use, and in doing so we challenge and change the system that continues to produce it.

One of the many important goals of Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is to help businesses to start their journey, so they offer a Plastic Free Business Toolkit. It helps you identify all the areas in your business where you use plastic and by noting everything down in a spreadsheet you'll soon realise the scale of the problem, but also easily identify areas where you can make some swaps. It's also a good way to track your progress too. Why not sign up here

Ginger Mint's plastic free champion award

Having committed to keeping our plastic footprint as close to zero as possible from the outset when we launched Ginger Mint in March 2020, we are thrilled to have now received our ‘Plastic Free Champion’ award and certificate from SAS.

So, come and join us and the nearly two thousand businesses who are already removing single-use plastic from their environment – and their customers' environment – one piece of plastic at a time. Do let us know how you get on!

Take care and stay safe.

Jo
